We are holding Covid-safe School Tours!

Visit from the farmer and his tractor

This week we have been exploring Numicon in maths and securing number knowledge to 10. The children have been retelling the story of ‘The Little Red Hen’ and using their phonics knowledge to make and label their own stories! We had a visit from the farmer and his tractor, he taught the children about how the tractor harvests wheat to make the flour needed for when we baked our own bread, he even gave us some seeds so the children can plant and grow their own wheat!

At Thistle Hill, our children are excited and motivated to engage in rich and challenging experiences, both inside and outside of their classroom. We have high ambitions for all of our children, with staff planning carefully to meet each child’s needs and stage of development, ensuring our children get off to a great start in their education. Child initiated play based learning is at the heart of our practice. We carefully plan for opportunities, activities and experiences that develop all of our children into independent, resilient and confident learners.
