Reception had an exciting trip this week…On Tuesday the children got to be farmers for a day! They prepared all of the animal feed, gathered the tools and equipment they needed, hand fed the different animals and cleaned out the alpaca enclosure. They had a rather chilly but brilliant day and we are very proud of how well they behaved. For the rest of the week we have been talking more about our farm visit and the children applied their phonics knowledge to write about it, drawing and labelling the animals they saw and writing short captions. Take a look at this amazing writing!

At Thistle Hill, our children are excited and motivated to engage in rich and challenging experiences, both inside and outside of their classroom. We have high ambitions for all of our children, with staff planning carefully to meet each child’s needs and stage of development, ensuring our children get off to a great start in their education. Child initiated play based learning is at the heart of our practice. We carefully plan for opportunities, activities and experiences that develop all of our children into independent, resilient and confident learners.
